Congo Coffee Atlas / Privacy & cookies
Privacy & cookies
Congo Coffee Atlas is a small, independent registry project — not a company with a legal team, but we want to be straightforward about what this site does and doesn't do with your data. No dark patterns, no cookie wall, nothing hidden behind an "accept all" button.
Who runs this site
This site is operated by Irenge Kazonza Consulting (ENK), a sole proprietorship (enkeltpersonforetak) based in Norway. "We" below means Irenge Kazonza Consulting (ENK).
What we actually store
We do not run Google Analytics, advertising pixels, or any third-party tracking script. Reading the registry, browsing the map, or opening any /origin page does not set a tracking cookie — because there isn't one on this site.
If you submit your email through the notify / "list your org" form — the same form used everywhere on this site — we store your email address, the role you selected (if any), and the date you submitted it. This is held using Vercel Blob, a cloud storage provider based in the United States, solely so we can follow up with you.
The small privacy & cookies notice you may see on your first visit stores exactly one thing in your browser's local storage: that you've seen it, so it doesn't reappear. That preference never leaves your device, isn't a cookie, and isn't personal data.
To show a short, region-appropriate version of that notice, your browser also asks a page on this same site (/api/region) which reads the country Vercel's network already attaches to the request — or, if that's unavailable, a coarse guess from your device's timezone, sent as plain text and used once. Nothing from that check is stored, logged, or linked to you; no third-party geo/IP service is called; and no cookie is set to remember it. If you've already dismissed the notice, this check is skipped entirely.
Why
We use your email only to reply to your request — for example, listing your organization or answering a question — or to notify you when a new lot record, region or destination is confirmed and added. Never for advertising, and never sold or shared with a third party.
The notice banner, by region
The small dismissible bar shown on this site adapts its short wording to your region so it stays relevant and brief. Every version is listed here in full — this page isn't geo-gated, so a search crawler, a VPN user, or anyone curious can read exactly what every region sees.
EU / EEA / UK
No non-essential cookies are set here, so no consent banner is legally required — this is just a heads-up. If you use the notify form, we handle your email under GDPR Art. 6(1)(a) (your consent).
United States
We don't sell or share your personal information for cross-context advertising, and we don't use tracking cookies.
Asia
This site uses only essential browser storage — no ads, no analytics, no tracking cookies.
Oceania
This site uses only essential browser storage — no ads, no analytics, no tracking cookies.
Africa
This site uses only essential browser storage — no ads, no analytics, no tracking cookies.
Americas (incl. Latin America) & everywhere else
This site uses only essential browser storage — no ads, no analytics, no tracking cookies.
Region not detected
This site uses only essential browser storage — no ads, no analytics, no tracking cookies. Full policy below covers every region.
EU / EEA visitors (GDPR)
The legal basis for processing your email address is your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)), given when you voluntarily submit the form; you can withdraw it at any time by asking us to delete your entry — see "Your rights & contact" below.
Because this site sets no non-essential cookies, there's no consent banner requiring an "accept all" button, and we won't fake one — the notice above is informational, not a consent request, and dismissing it never gates anything on this site.
US visitors
We do not sell or share your personal information, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are used under US state privacy laws (e.g. CCPA/CPRA). We also don't show a "Do Not Sell My Info" link, because there's no sale or sharing happening to opt out of.
Retention
We keep a submitted email only as long as needed to respond to your request or keep the registry's update list current, and delete it on request.
No cookie wall
Nothing on this site is gated behind accepting cookies or dismissing the notice. The registry, the map, the sources and every origin page work exactly the same whether or not you dismiss the banner.
Your rights & contact
To ask what we have stored about you, request a correction, or ask us to delete it, use the notify form on the homepage and describe your request. We don't yet have a dedicated support inbox separate from that form, so it's the most reliable way to reach us.
